Brian Hyosaka - Head of School

Brian Hyosaka

I was born and raised outside of Chicago where I grew a deep affinity for the Bears, deep dish pizza, and swimming in Lake Michigan. I attended the University of Illinois and had the opportunity to live and study in Argentina, before graduating with a Degree in International Studies. After college, I moved out to Denver where I taught 4th and 5th grade in a bilingual classroom at Sabin World School for five years. After meeting my wife Holly, we decided to travel the world and eventually moved to Guatemala together in 2015. There, I taught at the American School of Guatemala for two years before returning to Denver to complete my Masters in Educational Leadership at the University of Denver meanwhile serving as the assistant principal at nearby Academia Ana Marie Sandoval for the last three years. When I heard about Embark, a school that not only shares my educational philosophy, but also two of my greatest passions, coffee and biking, I saw a dream opportunity. On top of that, I believe strongly in the transformative power of relationships with students, families, and our amazing team. I absolutely love the opportunity to push the limits of what is possible in education when we keep our learners at the center of all we do.
